How long after Oklahoma Divorce can I get married in Arkansas?

My divorce in Oklahoma is about to be finalized (signed by the judge). I am wondering when can I go to Arkansas and get married? I think I can within 2 weeks, just wanting to make sure. Also, what all do I need to take for an arkansas marriage license?

In asking such a question, it’s apparent that you haven’t worked out the problems of why you are divorced in the first place!

Either your decision to marry was skewed, or your abilities as a wife were. In either case, until you get your life right, don’t marry again. You’ll have higher odds of divorcing a second time.

in if your divorcing in Oklahoma, you must wait three months no matter where you move to.

My opinion would be to take your time and make sure before making a life long commitment…

    State Mandated Six-Month Waiting Period

In the state of Oklahoma it is unlawful to marry an individual, other than a divorced spouse, for a minimum of six months after a divorce is granted. The rationale for the law is to provide divorcing parties with a cooling off period during which they can reconcile. Parties are still considered married during this six-month period, and if either party remarries in the state before the waiting period has expired they are guilty of bigamy.

    Bottom Line

The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled in the case of Copeland v. Stone that a marriage performed outside of Oklahoma within six months of a divorce is valid and cannot be set aside if it conforms to the laws of the state in which it was performed.
